WELCOME

Welcome to the website of the North Shore Philatelic Society.

We would like to invite you to spend some time with us and learn more about what our Society has to offer Philatelists on the North Shore of Auckland, whatever your level of expertise.

AIMS OF THE SOCIETY

The aims of the North Shore Philatelic Society are shown in several ways:

The Society encourages involvement in stamp collecting at all levels from beginner to specialist by holding regular meetings with a varied programme arranged to interest everyone.

A quarterly Newsletter is produced full of interesting items and information on the Society, and our library holds over 300 books on a variety of subjects, which are available to members on meeting nights.

The pro-active committee has, over the years, organised area and national exhibitions, promotional events at local centres and fund-raising, and will continue to follow the high standards already achieved.

SOCIETY HISTORY

There is only one Philatelic Society on Auckland's North Shore. It was born following a meeting convened at the IHC Centre in Northcote by the late Eddie Butler on Wednesday 29th September 1976.

Thirteen people attended the meeting and it was agreed to form the North Shore Philatelic Society Inc.

From this small beginning has grown one of New Zealand's leading Philatelic Societies, with over 70 members.

As a member of the New Zealand Philatelic Federation, North Shore has been very active in Federation matters and has held a number of National Stamp Exhibitions under it's patronage.

The Society is a friendly group made up of collectors, both novice and specialist. As the common interest of all members is STAMPS, it does not matter into which group you may fit.
